It is now official..research suggests that surfing can help combat stress, depression and other mental issues. A great article in a recent edition of The Telegraph written by Cathy Bussey has highlighted the benefits that surfers have known for years. The US Navy this year embarked on a 1 million dollar research project investigating the potential of surfing to help military personnel with PTSD, depression or sleep problems. Initial results have already shown great benefits from surfing. And the trump card that few other physical pastimes can’t match is you can’t take your mobile phone out there with you! So now you know the reason why surfers are always smiling.
